Tyler now regularly checks my growing belly, pats it, and says hello. I'm still not so sure he understands that there's a baby in there, but he has a nickname of his own for whatever-it-is in there: Scumby, or sometimes Scumbly. Isn't that cute???
I've become one of those parents who bore everyone with stories about my children! Oh no!
I count myself an advocate for my son, who is on the autism spectrum, and my daughter, whose favorite word is "no." So my interests have expanded to child issues, especially healthcare (no pre-existing conditions!), public and inclusive education, autism awareness, and preventing child abuse.
I still enjoy costuming when I can and crochet much more—a portable craft! MST3k, LOTR, and old-time horror hold importance after kid bedtime. Biking, hiking, chasing kids around playgrounds, yoga, and reading books to wiggly children are among my favorite activities. I am currently working on a book of poems for autistic children.
